Escape your reality - Experience ours
Eureka Springs, Arkansas - "America's Victorian Village" - This tour will last approximately 2 hours - Cost is $5.00 per person
Our tour guide will meet your bus and tour group at your place of lodging or The Village at Pine Mountain parking lot on Highway 62 east (East Van Buren Street). After a friendly welcome and introduction, the tour will begin by visiting the Christ of the Ozarks Statue at the Passion Play area, where you will learn all about the construction of the statue, who designed and built it, why it was built on this location, how long it took to build and who "The Smith's" were, the folks who had the vision and inspiration to have it built. We will also talk a lot about the Passion Play (www.EurekaSpringsPassionPlay.org) and New Holy Land. All parts of the Passion Play property.
We will also visit the beautiful and architecturally world famous Thorncrown Chapel (www.Thorncrown.com). Often referred to and recognized as "the glass chapel in Eureka Springs.) Thorncrown Chapel was voted as one of the Top 5 Building in America in the Past 100 Years in 2000, by the AIA (American Institute of Architects). This is a simple glass building that is 24 feet wide, 48 feet tall and 60 feet long. A single room with an open view all the way to the roof. There are over 400 individual panes of glass. But the most interesting and touching part of this chapel is "the story" behind it. Again, who, why, when, how long, how much? You will learn this and more, along with personal stories about the chapel and the folks who had it built in 1980, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reed. Retired school teachers...not ministers! Surprised?
